About Veire glass

At Veire Glass we offer unique fused glass creations. Each piece is made by hand and fired in my home studio based in the sunny Occitanie region in the South of France.

The word "Veire" comes from the Occitan language, which is the traditional language of this region. It means to see or to look through. I chose this name, which is also very similar to the French word for glass (verre), for its poetic dual meaning and its specific link to the region.

Background: about me

Born in Canada and now living in the South of France, I am a printmaker, a painter and more recently a glass artist.

I started experimenting in fused glass in 2012, but it wasn't until 2016 when I was able to invest in my own kiln that I was able to set up my studio and really begin fully immersing myself in the medium.

I was originally trained in printmaking, and I love the deeply textured and layered effects that deep etching provides, giving my printed pieces a timeworn effect. I work in an similar way when creating in glass, responding to melded forms that emerge from the kiln, layering, shaping and refiring until I have achieved the effect I am seeking.

Creative collaboration

1

Discovery

Whether your project is big or small, the first step is always to get to know eachother. I want to understand not only what you are looking for but what inspires you.

2

Designing

I will create a visual design on paper that we can discuss and agree on before starting to work in glass. Depending on your project, this might just be a rough sketch or a full to scale  pattern.

3

Creation

Once we have agreed a design, I set about creating it in glass. This requires selecting, cutting and assembling the glass, followed by multiple firings in the kiln to fuse and form the glass to the achieve final result.

4

Deliver

The final commissioned piece can be picked up from my studio, installed in your designated location or shipped around the world.
